Established in 2007 and now based in Burnley, Smart Garment People is a small consulting and product development business with over 30 years of experience in technical textiles (including e-textiles to integrate electronics) and clothing. From the world's biggest clothing brands to government agencies and small start-ups, our customer base is diverse to say the least (sports, defence, personal protection, automotive, medical, consumer electronics and even aerospace).


We specialise in building things that don't exist yet, and we know how to successfully make that leap from prototype to production; it's what sets us apart from other developers. We collaborate with the best suppliers and industry experts to ensure we deliver the best solutions – whether physical products or apps and services to support user experiences.


We don't do smoke and mirrors – we just turn great ideas into great products and services.

We love textiles. When you think about it, there's hardly a moment of each day when we aren't all surrounded by textiles. As the digital world expands its reach into our daily lives, we believe that e-textiles offer the perfect technology platform for connected living - ubiquitous, familiar and unobtrusive.

3D and User-Focused Design


Smart Garment People use 3D CAD to develop and refine products, enabling us to improve garment fit with greater precision. By combining 3D avatar data captured using our Body Scanner with design software, we validate our processes and digitally build garments before production.


Guided by a user-focused design approach, we place the user at the heart of the development process, ensuring that the products we create are fit for purpose, work effectively, and genuinely improve the experience of the people using them.
